One Day of Web Interactions

Internet used throughout the day: Google Chrome, Instagram, Snapchat, Youtube, Text Messages, Phone calls

After consciously being aware of my internet use, I truly realized just how much it is used in my daily life. Personally, the internet has many different uses. In the beginning of the day, I found myself immediately checking my phone across all platforms. As the day went on I would, subconsciously at times, just open up my phone and scroll through Instagram or just respond to a few snapchats. It was at times like these where I had no need to check my phone but still, out of habit, had to mindlessly scroll through. I don’t personally view that as that big of a problem but I do think it is something I should be more aware of and limit. After classes, I went back to my room and proceeded to wind down and watch youtube. It was at this time that I gave a call to my mom and checked in on the rest of the family. In my opinion, we take advantage of the ability to communicate, and we don’t truly appreciate how important the internet is in that regard. Many just think of the internet as a way to watch videos or look things up, but it is also how we communicate with one another anywhere in the world.

After watching youtube and catching up on a few things, I began to start my homework. Immediately, I opened up my computer and went on the internet to check on my assignments and complete readings. The internet is critical in school and it is used in all of my classes. The internet allows for professors to communicate accurately and efficiently with their students. It also allows students to have easy access to assignments and information all across the web. With that being said, it is important to acknowledge that not everyone is fully tech savvy on the internet and many students do not have access to all the internet resources that have been offered to others.

Overall, I found myself on many different internet sites throughout the day. The reasoning behind my usage ranged from school to personal use. Including the internet in my daily life makes my life immensely easier and makes me a better educated student. It also allows for me to be better informed in many regards, whether that’s being informed about the world or just informed about what is going at home. In today’s age, the internet is critical to daily life, but there are also benefits to not being as plugged in. It is important to note that everyone has different amounts of internet usage and everyone uses the internet for different things.
